About Us

Our History

Our Mansfield Woodhouse office was established in 1998 by Andrew Brealey BSc. (Hons) M.A.A.T., and was then known as Andrew Brealey Accountants. Originally an employee of Andrew Brealey Accountants, Steven Newbury joined the practice as a partner in 2008 to form Brealey + Newbury Accountants. This successful partnership has recently led to expansion and the opening of our Huthwaite office.

Meet the Partners

Andrew Brealey
After completing my university degree in business studies, I initially worked in the accounts office of a major international steel makers. With a multi-million pounds turnover and several thousand employees this was an ideal start to my accountancy career. I then made the decision to move into private practice and worked for several years for a firm of Chartered Accountants, where I continued to study and gained my accounting qualifications. My next career progression was to another accountancy practice with a view to taking over the practice when the owner made the decision to retire. I took over in 1998 and Andrew Brealey Accountants was formed. Ten years later I offered Steve the opportunity to become a partner in the business, which he took with no hesitation and the firm became Brealey + Newbury Accountants. On a personal note I am married with 2 children and enjoy DIY in what little spare time I have at my home near Chesterfield!

Steven Newbury
Upon completion of my HND in business, I focused on my interest in finance by studying the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification at night school. Whilst studying, I began my career in accountancy at Andrew Brealey Accountants and became an integral part of the team. I helped to introduce innovative working methods which increased efficiency and productivity. In recognition of my achievements I was offered the chance to become an equal partner within the business in 2008. Since then the practice has gone from strength to strength and I continue to enjoy the challenge of furthering the success of our firm. I live with my partner Gemma in Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire and enjoy tennis, walking and socialising.
